Summary

Reporting to the Senior Finance & Business Planning Manager, primary focus of the position is to provide Finance, Business Planning, & Decision Support for the Shared Functions in the UK & Ireland affiliate. Moreover, a key focus will be ensuring that the Spend Transparency data is collected, remediated and disclosed in accordance with industry regulations.

As such this role, will be expected to identify and build close relationships with key Commercial & Finance stakeholders both within the UK and Europe, and manage the agreed planning, by coordinating the involvement of key individuals and ensuring excellent communication with stakeholders. Lead the month end accounting close and reporting processes and pro-actively identify/recommend areas of presenting an opportunity for further analysis, and also actively involved in new projects.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional quarterly business updates / Latest Estimate for the expenses of your assigned department

  • Planning & conducting the quarterly forecast for areas of responsibility including liaison with senior management

  • Input to strategic plan for Shared Functions, Oncology, & Lymphoma. Administer review process for measuring actual financial performance against approved business plans.

  • Ensuring Spend Transparency data is collected, remediated and disclosed in accordance with industry regulations

  • Pro-actively work with budget holders and budget champions to identify areas of process or spend efficiency. Lead the Value for Money initiative chairing project meetings and ensuring excellent communication to management and the wider organization

  • Develop in conjunction with business 3 year strategy for Shared Functions, Oncology, & Lymphoma to maximize efficiency & resources to maximize business growth & performance.

  • Lead on the role out and enhancement of the new reporting and planning tool (Electronic Expenses Management Tool), and ensure that budget holders and champions are provided with clear and concise monthly opex reports

  • Produce a monthly opex analysis pack for the Finance Director and AD Finance. Present on a monthly basis explaining all key variances

  • Lead the month end opex close process, ensuring appropriate tools/reports are developed and maintained, all accounting entries are completed, and that all material variances are investigated

  • Ensure that the quarterly capital expenses budget/forecast is reviewed and agreed by all relevant stakeholders

  • Build and maintain excellent and close relationships with budget holders, department heads, and budget champions, ensuring that they have the necessary skills and maintain the appropriate focus on good budget management

  • In collaboration with the Shared Service Center (SSC) ensure complete and accurate accounting, VAT, tax reporting, or their statutory/sector requirements

  • Liaise with external auditors and the SSC to facilitate quarterly and annual audit requirements

  • Prepare for submission and approval external Finance reporting including statutory, industry and tax requirements as appropriate

Qualifications

Qualified accountant

Skills and exprience required

  • Significant working experience in Finance & Administration in a multinational environment. Pharma experience will be considered as an asset

  • Strong communication and business partnership skills

  • Confidence in presenting

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Strong attention to detail with ability to understand and communicate the helicopter view

  • Very Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel

  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects

  • Excellent organization skills and proficiency in coordinating/organising a number of individual contributors across the organization

  • High level user of business reporting tools, (eg Hyperion, Essbase, OBIEE) with a natural curiosity to develop relevant management information tools.

  • Ability to prioritize in a dynamic environment and pro-actively identify and recommend solutions for business efficiencies/opportunities

  • Proficiency in English. A second European language useful but not essential

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office with excellent Word & PowerPoint skills

  • Very Good communication skills both written and verbal. Ability to interact with all levels of management
