Summary

We are looking for a candidate to join the IT Data Management Services (DMS) team that will lead the implementation of Business Intelligence, Master Data Management and Data Integration solutions. They will be responsible for leading the DMS team in partnering with our IT business partners, IT enterprise architects and business clients to drive the use of analytics and information best practices across Celgene and ensuring the needs are well understood and represented throughout the BI and/or MDM SDLC.

This role will function as a senior team member within DMS Solution Delivery team and involves managing a team of solution partners and engagement with IT Business Partners, BI, MDM, and Data Integration Team Leads along with key Business Stakeholders in R & D and Medical Operations.

Key Responsibilities Include :

  • Provide leadership, supervision and performance management of Celgene direct reports. Establishing team and individual objectives and performance expectations, providing prioritization and ongoing feedback and recognition.

  • Monitor department personnel progress in accomplishing assigned project objectives, quality, budget and scheduled commitments. Counseling staff and providing appropriate training.

  • Identify staffing requirements, develop justification and propose organization structure to support growth and initiatives. Utilize external sources to augment internal capabilities as required.

  • Providing Business Intelligence, Analytics and Information Management thought leadership and consultative guidance to IT Business Partners and key business stakeholders in defining technology solutions and services to enable the business strategy and goals to be achieved of the Medical and R & D functions.

  • Help create and manage BI and MDM solution strategy and implementation project roadmaps, including creating, reviewing and gaining approvals for programs/projects to deliver Business Intelligence, Analytics, and MDM technology solutions, in alignment with strategy, which allow the business to fully realize the business value potential of our data.

  • Responsible for the overall delivery and quality of these projects and programs and ensuring the desired outcome is achieved, resulting in a significant impact on the objectives of the business functional areas. Especially accountable for ensuring comprehensive business requirements are gathered, understood, documented and represented throughout the SDLC

  • Represent the Global BI and MDM team in collaboration with the IT Business Partner teams to ensure that the business generates maximum value via the use of analytics & technology.

  • To be recognized as a Business Intelligence technology expert by the IT Business Partner team and the stakeholders of the business functional area.

  • Assist in evaluating BI and MDM technologies and capabilities in support of our business

  • Support the business to resolve complex business data and analytics issues and influence leadership in decision making.

  • Develop a deep understanding of our Medical and R & D business processes and enabling solutions.

  • Provide post-implementation and on-going client relationship support

Scope :

  • Span of Control – Global, cross functional, in collaboration with IT GDS leadership, IT business partnership, Enterprise Architecture function, and application service owners.

  • Direct Reports : 2-4

  • Indirect Reports – Managed service provider resources + onsite project resources

  • Budgetary Responsibility - Indirect influence over the IT GDS operational budget associated with managed services, project delivery, and MDM, approximately $5-10 million.

  • Interacts with - Business and IT colleagues at all levels of the organization. Day-to-day interactions focus on business process performers, IT department leaders, and operational management.

Qualifications

  • Prerequisites:

  • 10+ years of IT experience

  • 5+ years of Business Intelligence/Data Warehouse experience

  • 5+ years professional experience within the Pharmaceutical industry

  • Bachelors/Masters Degree in a scientific, business or technical field

  • Team/project leadership experience

Skills/Knowledge Required:

  • Advanced people management skills, demonstrating the ability to lead, mentor, and develop associates; including the ability to work effectively with vendors and third party system integrators

  • Demonstrated experience deriving and defining BI strategy and road maps

  • Demonstrated collaborative, consultative, problem solving, and analytical skills and a track record of driving change and business value through technology

  • Experience leading and/or managing BI projects through the full life cycle

  • Strong organization and prioritization skills relating to managing multiple projects

  • Must be proficient at business process and data analysis, client relationship management, team building, negotiating and management of projects and project teams in adherence to business priorities while working closely with business clients, business partners, and the BI technical team

  • Must be able to quickly understand key business issues within their assigned business functional area(s) and be able to understand where BI and/or MDM can add value, articulate this to non-technical business clients, and drive the implementation of BI and/or MDM capabilities in support of this area(s).

  • Must be able to demonstrate enthusiasm for the projects they are managing, focusing on managing change effectively and possess a customer-focused orientation

  • Knowledge of the Pharmaceutical industry and specifically R & D / Medical Operations is required
