The Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) Analyst will assist in all key financial planning processes, including budget development, forecasting and long-term planning. The FP&A Analyst will assist in performing complex financial analyses driving key insights that assist in making critical business decisions along with monitoring and optimizing financial performance. The FP&A Analyst provides a full range of finance support for all operational and administrative management partners, and acts as a liaison between business functions and finance/accounting leadership.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Assist in preparation of the expense forecast, budget and analysis for Receptos.
Work with the study managers to ensure systems are updated to meet the corporate deadlines.
Assist in preparation of budgets and forecasts for all departments within the Receptos site
Assist in preparation and distribution monthly departmental expense analysis reports and provide department managers with explanations of key variances.
Assist in preparations of the monthly close entries for all Receptos functions and work closely with the Corporate Shared Service Center and Record to Report (R2R) to ensure all relevant documents and information supporting the monthly financial close are accurately reflected.
Provide finance consulting and advice to the responsible Function Heads as well as assist with the strategic planning for the assigned function.
Coordinate and analyze periodic forecasts of actual versus budget performance for the assigned function(s), validate submitted forecasts and input forecasts into Hyperion.
Coordinate the purchase order process in collaboration with Strategic Sourcing and Shared Services teams.
Coordinate and validate total headcount information in collaboration with HR.
Work on ad-hoc projects assigned by Function Head.
Other responsibilities as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
B.S. Degree in Finance/Accounting or Business Administration
At least 4 years of experience in Finance/Accounting, experience in Pharmaceutical industry is a plus
Excellent skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office products e.g. Excel and PowerPoint and a good knowledge of Hyperion and Oracle OBI a plus
Solid experience in a rapidly expanding multinational environment
Ability to tailor work approach from detail oriented to strategic overview with strong process development skills.
Ability to identify existing or potential deficiencies in operating processes or procedures, recommend solutions, and proactively seek continuous economic and operating efficiencies primarily through leveraging financial systems
Strong communication skills and the ability to interact with all levels of management and the ability to influence processes across multiple functions and geographies
High sense of urgency and ability to identify creative solutions to advanced, time sensitive problems by balancing achievement of process objectives with practical considerations
Flexible personality who easily adapts to the fast-moving business environment
